CEBU, Philippines - The YawYan Ardigma Martial Arts Federation, Inc. gears up for the Ground and Pound VI: Invincible, a night of historic and action-packed MMA competition slated on July 14 at the Cebu Coliseum.
Master Benigno “Ekin” R. Caniga, Jr., YawYan ArDigma CEO/Founder and Vis-Min director, said it's their biggest event of the year stuffed with a dozen MMA bouts that fans will surely enjoy.
“This is going to be an enjoyable and highly entertaining show for Cebuano mixed martial arts fans. I can assure them that,” said Caniga.
The explosive MMA match-up under the featherweight class pits Alde “Pitbull” de Soza (2-1) of Bullet Fighting System (Muay Thai)- Mandaue against the undefeated Jonathan “Mata de Leo” Esquierdo (3-0) of Team MUMMA-Cagayan de Oro City.
Soza, the '2007 Pinoy Idol' boxing champion, won his previous fight against Adamson Torbiso via submission in the latest installment of 'Fight Grounds' held at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Center.
“Dili ko gustong manaad. Sa ring nako ipakita og unsa ang tinood nakung away. (I don't like to make any promise. I'll just show off what I'm capable of doing inside the ring),” said Soza.
In the light heavyweight division, Ermar Alexander of YawYan Ardigma-UK London will make his MMA debut against fellow debutant Al Adrian “Dynamite” Antipasado of Butuan Extreme MMA.
In a historic special attraction featuring the “Founder vs. Founder Battle” Allan “The Dancing Man” Epile will square off against Sensei Ben “Durex Warrior” Torbiso of Durex Dragon Kickboxing Club.
Epile is the founder of Soma Kickboxing Club and a former bantamweight kickboxing champion, while Torbiso is a two-time winner of the world karate tournament and goodwill matches in 1974.
At stake in this rare showdown is not only bragging rights, but also the pride and honor of their respective clubs.
Tickets for the first MMA card sanctioned by the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) are reasonably priced at P150 for the upper box, P300 for the lower box, P500 for ringside and 1,000 for VIP.
