CEBU, Philippines - A star-studded cast of riders from all over the country will strut their wares in round six of the 1st Keiz BJ Motors-Phoenix Cyclomax Titans Motocross Series billed as the "3rd Mayor Celestino E. Martinez, Jr. Invitational Motocross" on May 27 at a specially-designed racetrack of international standard in Brgy. Cayang, Bogo City.
The Manila-based Jovie Saulog and his equally-daring daughter Janelle spearhead the list of strong contenders that also include Kimboy Pineda, Ambo Yaparcon, Jesse Pineda, Joven Lagrada and Abo Mata of Davao, Scott Remi of Dumaguete City and Winsor Famorca of Iloilo.
They will go up against some of Cebu's best motocrossers headed by the multi-titled Jonjon Adlawan in the expert division.
Keiz BJ big boss Siegfred Ornopia said a bunch of daredevils from Tacloban, Ormoc, Maasin and other parts of the Vis-Min region will also take part in the action-packed event that is among the highlights of Bogo's annual fiesta celebration in honor of its beloved patron San Vicente Ferrer.
"Mayor Junnie Martinez really wants to make the event more colorful and as exciting and enjoyable as possible," said Ornopia.
The city government of Bogo has put up a total of P100,000 in cash prizes to the top winners in different categories.
Ornopia said they are expecting over a hundred enthusiasts of this extreme sport to participate in this adrenaline-pumping spectacle.
"This is something that motocross fans in Bogo and its neighboring municipalities in northern Cebu should not miss. It's going to be a highly competitive race because our racetrack is of international standard," assured Ornopia.
Meanwhile, the final two legs of annual series will be staged in July and August both in Mandaue City. The overall champion in different categories will be honored along with the "Rider of the Year" in an elaborate awarding rites this September at a still undertermined venue.—EBV (FREEMAN)
