Rama sinks 24 treys in friendly match
CEBU, Philippines - In an awesome display of hardcourt sniping, Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama knocked in two dozen triples of his career-high 76 points in the Rama Boys' 133-117 rout of the Brgy. T. Padilla Basketball Association (BTBA) selection recently at the barangay's covered court.
The Rama Boys of coach Charlie Reyes trailed by 10 points in the early goings, 20-30, but fought back with savvy in the second quarter to wipe out the deficit and even enjoy a seven-point edge at halftime, 62-55.
It was during that point that Mayor Rama started to turn the playing venue into a vitual shooting gallery. Behind the sharp-shooting skills of the City's chief executive, the Rama Boys outgunned the BTBA cagers, 35-12, to pad its lead to 13 points, 95-82, heading into the final stretch.
BTBA couldn't recover from there, allowing the Rama Boys to smoothly cruise to a 16-point victory.
