Malupay, Arceo stop foes in Summit slugfest
CEBU, Philippines - JK Malupay and Gilbert Arceo lead the cast of winners in the latest battle of Summit Natural Drinking Water’s Amateur Boxing Series at Gaisano Country Mall in Banilad, this city.
The referee in both the bouts of Malupay and Arceo stopped the action in the second round.
Cabancalan’s Malupay threw out a blow to the head on Bais’ Richard Barrios to win the 52 kilograms division at the start of the second round.
Ginatilan’s Arceo, for his part, outclassed another Cabancalan bet, Mark Acujedo 15 seconds in the second round of the 58 kgs. Class.
On the other hand, Polid Banal also of Cabancalan Elementary School silenced Sultan Kudarat’s Marvin Lulu in the 47 kgs. division.
Three other bets from Cabancalan also won their bouts — 50 kgs. Ferde San Roque silenced Flores Boxing Club’s JV Gaua, 60 kgs. Mardie Muaña dumped University of the Visayas’ Roberto Labanza, and Vicente Seos-e Jr. enjoyed a no-sweat win.
In the 52 kgs. class, Jimboy Mayang failed to join his teammates in the winner’s list after bowing to Christian Bacolod of Mabolo NHS.
Talamban’s Raul Yu (53 kgs) defeated Medellin’s Jomary Noynay, Maguikay’s Gerald Suico (53 kgs) overpowered Rolan Servaña of Bacolod City and Consolacion’s Ritchie Montealto (56 kgs) out-punched Rolando Lingaw-lingaw.
