P100T at stake in Bogo motocross
CEBU, Philippines - Over P100,000 in cash prizes are available to the winners in round six of the 1st Keiz BJ Motors-Phoenix Cyclomax Titans Motocross Series billed as the "3rd Mayor Celestino E. Martinez, Jr. Invitational Motocross" on May 27 at a specially-designed racetrack of international standard in Brgy. Cayang, Bogo City.
Host Mayor Junnie Martinez said unlike in the past two stagings of the annual race, they are making the event bigger and better this time.
"This year's race would be different because we're inviting top tiders from outside Cebu. We also have ample time to prepare because we really want to make the event more exciting for the fans to watch," said Martinez in a press conference yesterday at his residence in Silver Hills subdivision in Brgy. Talamban.
Race organizer and Keiz BJ Motors big boss Siegfred Ornopia said the legendary Jovie Saulog and his equally-talented daughter Janelle banner the list of star riders set to grace the one-day joust, which is among the highlights of Bogo's annual fiesta celebration in honor of its beloved patron San Vicente Ferrer.
The rest include the decorated Kimboy Pineda and the Lagunda brothers Joven and Kevin of Davao, Ambo Yapparcon and Windsor Famarcon of Dumaguete City.
"This will surely be an exciting and enjoyable race not only for the spectactors but also for the riders because our race track is patterned after that of the international standard. Our race course is so big that it can accommodate 10-12 riders who will take a jump altogether," said Ornopia, himself an award-winning daredevil.
"One thing I can assure is that those who will come and watch the show will surely be treated to a highly entertaining motocross action," said Ornopia.
The organizers are expecting over a hundred enthusiasts of this extreme sport to take part in the adrenaline-pumping spectacle.
"This is something that motocross buffs in Bogo and its neighboring municipalities in northern Cebu should look forward to. We have more participants who will show off their suave riding skills this time so it's guaranteed to be an action-packed race," said Mayor Martinez. (FREEMAN)
