Convergys, 1&1 and Teletech drub foes in CSCC E-League

CEBU, Philippines - The Convergys Wolves roared off to a masterful 87-54 demolition of Xlibris Publishers in the Sun Cellular-presented 8th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym in Ayala Business Park.

In the other Northern Conference match-up, the 1&1 Phils. Marauders blasted off the Executive Boutique Lycans, 68-43, while over at the Southern bracket, the Teletech Titans banked on a furious opening assault to vanquish the Sykes Pioneers, 69-56.

Save for Antonio Reyes, Jr., all 14 players fielded in by coach Lefi Villarin scored for Convergys led by Ronald Mabanto with 12 points.

Ellison Rivera and Kristian Tapic connived for 21 markers for Convergys, which fired its offensive gun on Xlibris right after the kick-off buzzer to break the game wide open early, 24-8.

After closing the first half with a 44-25 advantage, Convergys kept pounding on the hapless Xlibris, 25-11, to mount an insurmountable 33-point edge, 69-36, heading into the final quarter.

Violeto Tan, Jr. paced Xlibris with 11 points followed by Segs Al Bui Go with 10 markers.

The 1&1 Phils. Marauders, on the other hand, staged a blistering rally in the middle quarters to trounce the Lycans. After a 13-all standoff, the Marauders pummeled the Lycans in the second and third periods, 41-20, to tear the game apart, 54-33, entering the final 10-minute zone of the contest.

Raymond Basañez had 14 points and John Paul Talan added 11 for the Marauders, who outscored the Lycans in the final canto, 14-10, to ice the 25-point blowout.

R'nyl Joey Cagas was the long bright spot for Xlibris with 23 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals.

In the last game of a featured triple-header, Sherwin Anghay churned out 16 points, five rebounds and three assists for Teletech, which did not look back after a flying 20-18 start.

Sherwin Emmanuelle Resilla and Lourenz Limpangog combined for 26 points, seven blocks and five rebounds for Teletech, while Edsel Duke Capillanes contributed 12 points.

Jan O'Neil Sahilan led Sykes with 23 points, three rebounds and two steals.
