Tabuelan triathlon on June 17

CEBU, Philippines - Over P30 thousand in cash will be up for grabs in the inaugural staging of the Tabuelan 111 set on June 17 at Maravilla Beach.

The champion in the elite men’s class takes home P10 thousand while the second place pockets P7 thousand while the third placer will receive P5 thousand.

The women’s elite champion, on the other hand, will get P5 thousand while the next  top two finishers in the said class will get P3 thousand and P2 thousand respectively.

The top three placers in the elite divisions will also each get a trophy.

The top performers of the age-groups will each get a medal while all finishers will get medals and a t-shirt.

More than the awards though, the event also serves as the local triathletes preparation for Cebu’s first hosting of the Cobra 70.3 Ironman Philippines on August 5 at Shangri-La’s Mactan Island Resort.

There are also those who expressed interest in the event in lieu of the Ironman after either failing to beat the deadline or for the lack of funds for registration on the international event.

Participants in this municipality of Tabuelan and Tagghap Tri Club-organized event along with Sugbu triathon will be dealing two kilometers of swim, 88-km bike and 21-km run.

For those who have not yet registered for the event, they have until May 15 to avail of a discounted rate for the registration fee.

Early bird rate in the individual category is P3 thousand and P5 thousand per team for the relay event.

Regular entry fee is P500 higher than the early bird rate.

Registration period ends on May 31.

The first 100 registrants are guaranteed a complete set of race kit and freebies. - THE FREEMAN
