CEBU, Philippines - Dondon Yuson stole the thunder during the third leg of the 2012 MS Motosuit Motocross Series billed as the 14th Ornopia Cup as he snared two championship trophies last Sunday at the Calambua racetrack in San Remigio north of Cebu.
Yuson displayed awesome maneuvering skills of his bike to outclass Ted Conde in both the pro and expert divisions.
The ever daring Pepo Rubi placed third in the pro category, while Dexter Bacabac took the second runner-up honors in the expert class.
Peping Mar and Arnel Lacnit, on the other hand, came up with a title and a first runner-up finish.
Mar outshone actor-turned motocrosser Jordan Herrera for the top spot in the beginners open production, while Ray Quirol wound up third.
Mar missed a double victory after he was outpaced by Lacnit in the novice open production.
Like Mar, Lacnit also faltered in scoring a twinkill after finishing behind Dexter Bacabac in the intermediate class. Crowd-darling John Flores claimed the third place honors.
In the open enduro battle, Quirol snatched the title after edging out the heavily-favored Donkey Sanchez and Kent Limpag, who settled for second and third, respectively.
Limpag gamely bounced back by winning the exciting underbone race, while Jun Enriquez topped the executive B category. Enriquez placed third in the executive A dominated by Gener Sicad.
It was Butch Flores who reigned supreme in executive C followed by Jonathan Cuyos and Noli Rom.
As expected, BJ Pepito came out the fastest in the peewee class, with RK Cuesta and Regie Pepito occupying the next two spots.
Co-presented by Petron Philippines and Du Ek Sam, the event was made possible through the support of RMO Motor Parts, F&FO Motor Parts, Prospeed, Motomaze and JCO Motor Parts in association with Casino Filipino, Cebu Fourth District Rep.
