CEBU, Philippines - Taking pride for staging the longest and best-run basketball clinic in Cebu, Sunsport ventures into another sporting discpline by setting up a volleyball training camp slated from May 7 to 18 at the New Sacred Heart Sports Club along D. Jakosalem Street, this city.
The 11-day program will be handled by no less than the Philippine beach volley coach Eric Lecain, who has been coaching the sport for over 20 years now. The beach volley consultant of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has trained players and coaches from high school up to the professional level and has produced winning teams on pro tour both in the United States and Europe.
In addition to his shining credential, Jecain is a USAV CAPS I & II certified coach and an official coach on the AVP and FIVB World Tour.
Behind the efforts of Lecain and the Cebu Volleyball Association (CEVA), the clinic will be under the theme "Learning to Play Doubles:Techniques, Skills, and Drills".
Lecain will teach the campers on the different facets of the game such as the differences between playing 6's and playing 2's, how to move in doubles, vision, shooting vs. hitting and playing defense behind the block.
Lecain will also take up the eight points of setting, tricks for serving aces, how to enhance hitting skills for small players, ball control and prepare the players physically and mentally.
Open to both male and female enthusiasts aged 18 years old and above, the training session will be held on Mondays to Fridays from 2 pm to 4 pm.
