- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - Zethley Mae Alferez grabbed a title and had a first runner-up honors to emerge as the best player in the cebu leg of the 2012 Head-Smart Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit yesterday at the Cebu International Tennis Centre, Inc. (CITCI) courts in Laray, Consolacion.

Alferez ruled the girls 12 division with a merciless 6-0, 6-0 thrashing of Elizabeth Abarquez. She missed a double victory after bowing to Alyssa Mae Bornia, 7-5, 6-1 in the girls 14 final.

Hannah Espinosa, on the other hand, made her summer vacation in Cebu a memorable one after she clinched the girls 18 crown with a 6-0, 6-3 whacking of Davao’s Andrea Regino, 6-0, 6-3.

Espinosa's road to glory became smoother as her archrival Sally Mae Siso did not join the event due to the PRISAA National Collegiate Games where Siso is competing under Central Visayas.

Fritz Satera lorded it over in the boys 18 after whipping Rodolfo Barquin, 6-2, 6-0.

In the girls 16 category, Krissiane Kintanar reigned supreme after dispatching Dominique Ong, 6-4, 6-0, while Zamboanga’s Allian Abdulqoahar dominated the boys side.

Fernando Arguelles Jr. nailed the boys 14 title after edging out Clyde Dujali 6-3, 3-6, 10-5, while Joshua Regino claimed the boys 12 plum at the expense of the hard-fighting Francis Lambayan, 6-7, 7-4, 12-10 victory.

Nonito Pepito completed the winners' list after ruling the unisex 10-under with a 6-3, 6-2 drubbing of Rupert Tortal. — (FREEMAN)
