CEBU, Philippines - Hannah Espinosa and Fritz Satera breezed through the final round in the 18-under division of the 2012 Head-Smart Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit at the Cebu International Tennis Centre, Inc. (CITCI) courts in Laray, Consolacion.
Espinosa won by default over a no-show Khaye Uytico, while Satera bundled out Rodolfo Barquin, 6-1, 6-2.
Espinosa will face next Davao's Andrea Regino, who advanced following a 6-0, 6-4 drubbing of Edel Donaire, while Satera will take on Zamboanga's Abdul Qoahar Ali-an, who escaped past Edward Alumina with uniform scores of 7-5, 7-5.
In the boys 14, Bacolod's Fernando Argueles and Clyde Dujali will slug it out for the championship. Argueles posted an easy 6-2,6-2 win over Slame Sotto, while Dujali grabbed a hard-earned 1-6, 7-6, 10-6 triumph against Carl Balondo.
In the distaff side, Zethley Mae Alferez booked a final ticket after outlasting Elyse Castro, 6-2, 6-2.
In the boys 12 category, Joshua Regino and Francis Lambayan will mix it up for the gold medal. Regino dumped Balundo, 6-4, 6-3 whie Lambayan outsmarted Mark Suson.
John Ternate, on the other hand, will battle Nonito Pepito for the unisex 10-under title. Ternate kept his championship bid in motion following a 6-4, 6-1 whipping of Eric Longakit, while Pepito rolled past Gabriel Trazo, 6-4, 6-1. (FREEMAN)
