CEBU, Philippines - Filipino lightweight prospect Mercito ‘No Mercy’ Gesta (24-0, 12KOs) risks his undefeated record against Colombian Oscar Cuero (15-7, 12KOs) in a 10-round rumble today at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Gesta-Cuero duel is in the undercard of the Brandon Rios-Richard Abril showdown for the vacant WBA lightweight championship.
The pride of Brgy. Labogon, Mandaue City showed he's in tip-top form after scaling in at 137 pounds during the official weigh-in, one pound lighter than Cuero.
The 24-year-old Gesta, who trained for two months in San Diego, California, is out to prove that he is ripe and ready for a world title fight.
Gesta seeks to duplicate his dominating victory against Mexican Ricardo Dominguez last November in Las Vegas.
But unlike Dominguez whom he beat by unanimous decision, the Cebuano southpaw vowed to dish out a knockout victory over Cuero. (FREEMAN)
