Tiger's 'footclub' move and what's in a name

The Holy Week break somewhat altered my body clock and I only caught glimpses of the Masters on television as I managed to get more than eight hours of sleep for three days.

I did catch some of the action especially how Tiger Woods flared up and kicked his club after hitting a shot that was way short.

Many have lambasted him for the outburst and I believe it was indeed uncalled for. Tiger has apologized for his second round outburst, which is good.

Somebody asked me if this means, Tiger is already on the sunset of his golf career? I told him, that this is just another bump that he would soon overcome.

It would be hard to win those Majors, but I still believe that he can win a few more and maybe match or even surpass the 18 of Jack Nicklaus.

Bubba Watson has a name that reminds me of the shrimp business of Forest Gump.

If you meet somebody named Bubba, you might not take him seriously, but after his victory at the Masters, he reminds me of an incident in the media tournament of the Philippine Airlines Interclub 12 years ago in Cagayan de Oro City.

Al Mendoza, who lost his voice, wrote a note addressed to the group after he won the tournament and this was what he said, “I have no voice, so I let my clubs do the talking.”

It is similar to Bubba. His name may not sound to be somebody who is a serious contender, but in the final day of the Masters he let his clubs do the talking.

The tournament dubbed as ‘A Shot At Life’ will be played at the Mactan Island Golf Club.

I got my final instructions yesterday from my mistah Lt. Col. Jeffrey Gallenero, who belongs to this organizing class, as I have been asked to fill in his shoes and serve as tournament director.

More importantly, he reminded me that there are still those who might not have bought tickets to the event yet hehehe…

For P2,000 you can contribute to make the life of a student and that of his family better.

More than that, you can also enjoy a round of golf in the company of friends and even family.

MILESTONES: The long break made me miss several greetings so belated happy birthday to my uncle Mannie Lebumfacil (April 8) and to those who celebrated last Monday like my cousin Bong Benemerito, Marko Sarmiento, Myra Guce, and Charline France Baduel-Arellano.
