Salimbangon siblings shine in Davao netfest

CEBU, Philippines - The Salimbangon siblings of Cebu International Tennis Centre, Inc. (CITCC) ended their Davao trip with a 1-3 finish during the first leg of the Smart-Head Junior Tennis Circuit 2012.

Kristin Renee Salimbangon dominated the girls 12-under category, while her brother Cesar Kristofer settled for bronze in the 10-under division.

Kristin Renee opened her bid with a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Aubrey Calma of Cagayan de Oro City. She beat Sultan Kudarat’s Carlyn Bless Guarde, 6-1, 6-3 in the semis.

In the final battle, Kristin Renee survived a tough match against Cotabato City’s Kathlenley Arandia, 6-3, 6-4.      

The seven-year-old Cesar Kristofer, on the other hand, settled for third place honors in the unisex 10-under class after beating the third-ranked Minette April Bentillo of Sultan Kudarat, 1-6, 7-5, 10-7.

After Davao, the Salimbangon siblings will join another tournament in Angeles City on April 14. Afterwhich, they will head back to Manila for the Henry Lee Age-Group Tournament at the Makati Polo Club.— (FREEMAN)
