Subangdaku sparkles in Mandaue volleyball event

CEBU, Philippines - Team Subangdaku trounced Omapad in straight sets, 25-19, 25-18 to grab the girls 13-under title of the 5th Mayor’s Cup volleyball event at the Mandaue City Plaza.

Among those who powered Subangdaku to triumph were Crisheil Mae Suba-an, Chariza Mae Rico, Gaye Marie Alferez, Mary Angel Carino, Kate Michelle Obenita, Gestine Dalumpines and Mary Miles Diego.

In the men's final set after the Holy Week, Subangdaku enjoys a twice-to-beat incentive over Casuntingan.

In the 18-under division, Cabancalan and Opao will slug it out for the championship in the men's division, while Omapad will face Alang-alang in the distaff side.

In the open category, defending champion Looc and Omapad take the lead in the women’s division, while Centro, Subangdaku and Banilad are all undefeated in the men's bracket.

The month-long sports festival spearheaded by the Mandaue City Sports Commission (MCSC) is among the highlights of Mandaue's annual fiesta on May 7-8 in honor of its beloved patron St. Joseph. (FREEMAN)
