Organizers eye bigger 'Run for BB 4'

- Lemuel P. Maglinte -

CEBU, Philippines - A bigger edition of Chong Hua Medical Center’s annual charity run dubbed as ‘Run for BB 4’ is scheduled on April 15 at Parkmall grounds in Mandaue City.

Organized three years ago by the staff and employees of Chong Hua Hospital, the event aims to raise funds for their colleague Dr. Bebe Arce who suffered from parengel circoma cancer.

Now on its fourth edition, the organizers hope to accumulate funds for the six indigent cancer patients who are suffering from the dreaded disease at a very young age.

“Once again we will organize a run for our young cancer patients to help in sustaining funds for the continuation of their treatment,” said race organizer Rosario Naomi Fajardo of the Hematology-Oncology Unit in a press conference yesterday at Jollibee-Parkmall outlet.

Among other innovations, the race will now have a 21K half-marathon category. “We decide to do a 21K because runners now demand more challenge,” said technical director Joel Baring of the Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE).

The rest include the 12K, 6K and 3K and the 400m and 200m dash for kids.

Cash prizes and medals are available to the top three finishers in each category. The top winners per division will also receive a brand new Timex watches.

Registration fee is pegged at P550 for 21K, P350 for 12K, P300 for 6K, P250 for 3K and P200 for the kiddie dash, all inclusive of a singlet, race bib, map and snacks after the race.

Entry forms are available at the Chong Hua Hospital-Nursing Service Office, OPD and Cardio Unit and at Parkmall. (FREEMAN)
