CEBU, Philippines - A mixture of new faces and seasoned players are raring to see action as the Visayas leg of the Milo Junior Tennis Cup kicks off today at the Consolacion tennis courts.
The event features several age-group categories: boys and girls 12, 14, 16 and 18-under, unisex 10-under and 8-under.
The 8-under is actually a special division designed to prepare the younger players in their transition to the regular age-group competition.
With that, low-pressure balls will be used in the 8-under classt, according to coach Jovy Mamawal of the Children’s Tennis Workshop (CTW), which is handling this Group 3 Philippine Tennis Association (Philta)-sanctioned event for 25 years now.
Aside from trophies, t-shirts and gift certificates, the top winners will also get a chance to represent Visayas in the national finals set from November 3 to 4 in Manila.— (FREEMAN)
