Julaton queen no more, loses crown to Argentina's Marcos
CEBU, Philippines - Argentina's hometown pride Yesica Patricia "Assassin Bonbon" Marcos dethroned Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton by unanimous decision to emerge as the new WBO female super bantamweight queen yesterday at the Teatro Griego Juan Pablo Segundo in San Martin, Mendoza, Argentina.
Judges Cesar Ramos and Ignacio Robles both scored 98-92, while Roberto Torres saw the bout 98-91 all for Marcos, who survived a second round knockdown on the way to hammer out a rather surprising lopsided victory over the fallen champ.
Marcos, thus, stretched her unbeaten streak to 19 spiked with one draw, while Julaton tasted her third defeat in 14 fights.
The 31-year-old Julaton won the WBO title after pulling off a unanimous decision win over Donna Biggers on December 4, 2009 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. She defended her crown three times before surrendering it to Marcos. (FREEMAN)
