Julaton stakes WBO crown today
CEBU, Philippines - Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton (10-2-1, 1KO) will put his WBO female super bantamweight crown on the line against the undefeated Argentine challenger Yesica Patricia "Assassin Bonbon" Marcos (18-0-1, 6KOs) today at the Amphitheater Juan Pablo II in Ciudad San Martín in Mendoza, Argentina.
It will be Julaton's fourth defense of the WBO belt she strapped on her waist after pulling off a unanimous decision victory over Donna Biggers on December 4, 2009 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.
The 31-year-old Julaton squeezed through a split decision victory over Maria Elena Villalobos in her first defense on June 30, 2010 at the Casino Rama in Ontario, Canada.
She had two more successful defense - both by unanimous verdict - against Franchesca Alcanter on February 25, 2011 at the Craneway Pavilion in Point Richmond, California and against Jessica Villafranca on September 30 last year at Polifuncional in Kanasin, Yucatán, Mexico.
The 26-year-old Marcos, on the other hand, is coming from a fifth round TKO win over former WBA interim champion Simone Da Silva of Brazil in October last year.
"I respect Ana because she’s a champion, but I have confidence on me. I have had a good training camp and I am going to win tomorrow," Marcos told philboxing.com after the official weigh-in yesterday. She came in at 120.8 lbs, while Julaton tipped the scales at 112 pounds. (FREEMAN)
