CEBU, Philippines - Jaymar Canoy dropped 17 points as the Oriental Port and Allied Services Corp. (OPASCOR) drubbed That’s Right, 87-85, to capture the championship trophy in the Christian Athletic Volunteers (CAV) Invitational Basketball Tournament the other night at the Barangay Tejero Sports Complex.
After a lackluster showing in the first half, OPASCOR came strong in the third-quarter to take control of the game.
That’s Right made a desperate run in the final five minutes of the game and managed to cut the deficit to four points, 78-74, after Romel Pero’s go-ahead lay-up.
It was an neck-to-neck battle onwards, but OPASCOR stood their ground, while Canoy sank two free throws with 1.2 seconds remaining to help his team seal the win.
Nog-nog Saga also contributed 15 points for OPASCOR, while Ramiro Cadungog added nine markers.
Joemarie Belderio had 17 points for That’s Right, while Pero added 13 points.
Earlier, Benjie Orquiz pumped in 19 points as AC Sports edged out A and S Pace, 80-79, in a battle for third place.
