CEBU, Philippines - Cebu’s fast-rising ultramarathoner, an Ironman Philippines survivor, a multi-titled trail runner and a bunch of foreign entries are among the early favorites in the country's first ever all-Women Ultramarathon from Ayala Active Zone to Karancho Beach Resort in Mactan Island on March 10.
Tri-media personality Haide Acuña, who swiftly carves her name as Cebu's Iron Lady, leads the cast of close to 200 runners who will see action in the 50-kilometer race of endurance, physical strength and mental toughness.
Aside from Acuña, also set to showcase their wares are top trail runner Merlita Arias-Dunkin and several times Ironman Philippines survivor Annie Neric.
As posted by the organizers in their Facebook account, three Singaporeans and a Japanese national are also taking part in the lung-busting event organized by the Cebu Ultra Runners Club in association with the Ungo Runners Club.
Meanwhile, the carbo-loading party and the distribution of race packets will be done on March 8 at Ayala Center Cebu. - THE FREEMAN
