Japinay judoka plans to bring coach to Cebu

CEBU, Philippines - Japinay judoka Kiyomi Watanabe plans to bring his coach Yasaki Yuta in Cebu this August to help train young Cebuano disciples of the famous Japanese martial art.

Watanabe, who won bronze medal for the Philippines during last year's Southeast (SEA) Games in Indonesia, was among the major awardees during the 30th Sportswriters Association of Cebu -San Miguel Brewery (SAC-SMB) All-Cebu Awards last Saturday night at The Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.

The 15-year-old Watanabe and her mother Irene, who hails from Toledo City, along with Atty. Vicente Fernandez will assist coach Yuta in the training kids who are enthusiastic to play judo.

“Many parents restrict their kids from playing judo since they feared that their kids will be injured. But me, as a parent, injury will not happen if these kids will undergo proper training,” Watanabe’s mother said. - THE FREEMAN
