Springdale, Barili clinch titles

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - The taller and bigger PAREF-Springdale booters walloped the hapless Barili squad, 3-0, in their one-sided final match to clinch the boys 12 crown of the 3rd San Roque Football 9-a-side Tournament yesterday at the San Roque Parish field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Tony La Rosa waxed hot from the semifinals up to the championship round where he proved too much to handle for the Barili defenders.

La Rosa, who powered Springdale to a 2-0 shutout of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu during the semis, also knocked in two goals - all in the first half - in their masterful conquest of Barili.

The equally-aggressive Pietre Dakay delivered PAREF-Springdale’s third goal in the second half.

Barili though still has something to be proud of as it clobbered SHS-Ateneo, 3-0, to take home the championship in the players 9 division.

The victorious Barili team is composed of the same players that won the players 8 title during the 9th Thirsty Cup last week.

Meanwhile, exciting action in the San Roque football festival resumes today with games in the men’s 36 and the Inter-BPO categories. (FREEMAN)
