CEBU, Philippines - It's green and go for the keenly-awaited Round 5 of the Keiz BJ Motors & Phoenix Cyclomax Titan Invitational Motocross on February 26 at a specially-designed race course in Upper Pagsabungan, Mandaue City. Action promptly starts at 9:30 am.
"I would like extend my profound gratitude to the Mahusay family especially to Jun for allowing us to use their vacant lot as our venue," said Keiz BJ big boss Siegfred Ornopia, who is also a topnotch rider.
"It took us a lot of effort and sacrifice to build this racetrack because of recurring rains but it's all worth it because we've very determined to push through with this event. I am happy now that it's already finished," he added.
The multi-titled Jonjon Adlawan will once again treat his fans to an exciting show in the expert division, but he must brace for a tough challenge from the likes of Dondon Yuson, the Abellar brothers Juvenelle and Jovannie Abellar, the ageless Pepo Rubi as well as Cyril Tariman, Janjan Baluyos and Wilbert Maraño of the Rowee Racing Team.
Daredevils from neighboring provinces will also be coming over to strut their wares before a legion of Cebu's diehard followers in this extreme sport. Among them are freestyler Wilson Farmorca of Iloilo and Fil-Am Remi Scott of Dumaguete City.
Rey Quirol of Liloan is out to prove his mastery in the beginners production against James Mayol and other title hopefuls.
Siegfred's sons Brylle and Kenken Ornopia will also showcase their excellent maneuvering skills in their respective divisions.
Brylle seeks to dazzle his Pagsabungan fans as he defends his turf against visiting rider Froilan Torralba, PJ Galla of Maasin City, Andrei Gastador of Daanbantayan and JP Cuesta in the 85cc division. He will also see action the beginners selection limited edition.
Kenken, for his part, will go up against tough contenders in Mark Mendaros of Talamban and Peepee Galla of Maasin City in the 65cc class.
Siegfred's youngest child Keizer, to which the tournament is named after, hopes to steal part of the limelight as he competes in the peewee division.
The other categories featured in the one-day event include the intermediate, executive A and B, local enduro, habal-habal selection limited edition (local Pagsabungan), and habal-habal and wanggits showdown.
Held as one of the highlights of Pagsabungan's annual fiesta in honor of 'Birhen sa Lourdes' on Pebrero 25, the race is supported by Phoenix Petroleum Phils., Geoffrey Viñalon, Haojue Phils., Jun Mahusay and family, Reynante Tigue and WRW Enterprises.
