CEBU, Philippines - Highly esteemed businessman-sportsman Manny V. Pangilinan will banner the list of distinguished individuals who will grace the opening ceremonies of the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Meet on April 22 either at the Cebu City Sports Center or at the Cebu International Convention Center.
Pangilinan, whose vast contribution to Philippine sports is beyond measure, will speak in front of over 5,000 athletes from the different regions in the country.
Meanwhile, PRISAA project director Bernard Ricablanca said they are currently preparing for a festive and lavish kick-off salvo for the week-long sports conclave.
As far as the playing venues and billeting centers are concerned, Ricablanca said they are already 80 percent prepared.
“We’re a bit pressured now considering that the PRISAA is fast approaching. But with the help of everybody, I believe we will accomplish all the tasks assigned to us smoothly," said Ricablanca.
Except for softball and baseball that will be represented by Bohol, athletes from Cebu City comprise the bulk of Central Visayas contingent to the PRISAA Nationals.
“We could not be too overconfident because I know that the other regions have also prepared well for this competition. Even if we have the homecourt advantage, we still have to keep the spirit of being a champion,” he said. (FREEMAN)
