Cevees raring to defend PRISAA national crown

CEBU, Philippines - Central Visayas, powered by topnotch athletes from Cebu City, wants to make it sure that no stone will be left unturned in its title retention bid, more so that it will also defend its fort in the 2012 Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Meet set from April 22 to 28 at different venues here in the Queen City of the South.

PRISAA project director Bernard Ricablanca said the CV athletes need to be exposed in more competitions to bolster their bid for back-to-back championships.

“We already have the list of athletes bound for the nationals who will go through a series of training. We also advised all the coaches to engage their athletes in various tournaments as part of our preparations,” said Ricablanca.

“Plain training alone is not enough because I believe that the more competitions our athletes will have, the more their chances of winning. This is our way of preparing them for our title defense here in our hometown,” added the Cebu City Sports Commissioner.

Except for softball and baseball that will be manned by delegates from Bohol Province, Central Visayas will be represented by the Cebu City Niños, who scored a clean sweep during the PRISAA regional qualifying last week in Tagbilaran City.

“We really have to prepare because we're the host. For sure, the other regions will be fielding in their best bets. This means a tougher challenge is ahead of us,” Ricablanca said.  (FREEMAN)
