CEBU, Philippines - The Sluggin’ Muffins swept their assignments in round 2 to take the solo lead in the Cebu 10’s Rugby League over the weekend at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
The Sluggin' Muffins, also known as the Muffin Sluggers skippered by Jerry Branzuela, silenced the Sigbins, 14-0, thanks to the valiant effort of Homer Perez Bangay.
Inspired by that convincing win, the Sluggin Muffins put up a more aggressive play to crush the Bulls, 21-7.
Bangay again figured prominently in their conquest of the Bulls along with Yoann Nohe and Francis Tañajura.
Despite their loss, the Bulls still have something to cheer for after they shackled the Sigbins, 14-0, with Geoffrey Veraces leading the charge.
In the lone match under the ladies 7s, Team Ono posted a lopsided 21-7 victory over Team Salinas.
Astrid Sadaya and Mae Ann Ubaub led Team Ono with three tries combined. (FREEMAN)
