CEBU, Philippines - Maasin City brawler Adones "TI Yamagata" Aguelo will put his Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) featherweight crown on the line against Renan Branzuela of Valencia, Bukidnon in the main event of the "Ginub-anay sa Dagway" fight card on February 19 at the Basak Sports Complex in Lapu-Lapu City.
This will be Aguelo's second defense of the PBF belt he strapped on his waist following a sixth round stoppage of Victor Manon on August 16, 2010 at the Maasin City Gym in Southern Leyte.
The 23-year-old Aguelo first retained his title with a fourth round TKO win over Jake Verano on September 15 last year in Maria, Siquijor.
In his previous bout, however, Aguelo lost by unanimous decision over 12 rounds to Australian Joel Brunker in their WBO Oriental featherweight championship match on November 25, 2011 at the Richmond Club in New South Wales, Australia.
Interestingly, Aguelo holds a clean 4-0 record in his Cebu joust, while Branzuela lost in all his three fighs here.
In the supporting bouts of the slambang show presented by T I Yamagata Boxing Promotions in association with Cebu 6th District Rep. Luigi Quisumbing and the barangay council of Basak, T I Yamagata Sentillas of Mandaue will slug it out with Romnick Magos for 10 rounds under the flyweight division, while Japanese Masashi Tada will go up against Junior Salvador in a six-rounder, light flyweight duel.
The rest of the card, which is open to the public for free, features T I Yamagata Valero vs. Erwin Pulvera, T I Yamagata Boyosi vs. Jovan Munoz and Rajah Renoi vs. Lyndel Radoc. - THE FREEMAN
