CEBU, Philippines - After an intense elimination round, it now down to four teams in the semifinal round of the 2nd Cebu Basketball Association-M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Mayor’s Cup at the Cebu Coliseum.

Asian College of Technology (ACT) Cyber Knights hopes to ride on the from the elimination phase as they try to defeat fourth seed Rollway Customs Brokerage in the first game at 4 p.m., while the finalist of the last conference, Ave Maria Sanctuary Park, will tangle with the 3rd seeded Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras in the final game set at 6 p.m.
With five teams tied with 3-2 win-loss records after the eliminations, organizers had to use the quotient system to determine the top four teams.
ACT got the top seed with a quotient of 1.04 followed by Ave Maria (1.02), SWU (0.99) and Rollway (0.98).
Last conference champion Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) with 0.96, failed to make it into the final four together with win less ThreeSixty Pharmacy Online Basketball Training Camp.
The Cyber Knights will be relying ex-PBA guards Stephen Padilla and Mark Magsumbol together with Eliud Poligrates and bigmen Edrian Lao and Jan Villaver.
Rollway Customs Brokerage, on the other hand, will parade Eric Sanoria, Nat Cruz, Ryan Alicaway, and Manny Gabas.
Last season’s CESAFI finalist SWU of legendary coach Raul ‘Yayoy’ Alcoseba will be banking on hot-shooting guards Jeff Viernes and Jessmar Villahermosa with veteran Abby Santos and 6-foot-8 Cameroonian center Justin Aboude.
Beefing Ave Maria’s line-up are Alex Cainglet, Jojo Tangkay, Ian Saladaga, Kurt Amores and Sid Cortes.
The winners of each match will then clash for the championship in a best-of-three series, while the losers will fight for third in knockout match.
The champion will receive P100,000, while the second to third will pocket P50,000, P30,000 and P20,000, respectively. (FREEMAN)
