2nd CBA Mayor's Cup kicks off this pm

CEBU, Philippines - The battle for the P100,000 bounty begins today at the 2nd Cebu Basketball Association-M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Mayor’s Cup gets underway at the Cebu Coliseum.

Defending champion Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) Skyblazers open their title retention bid against Rollway Customs Brokerage in the first game at 2 pm, while the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras will tangle with the Asian College of Technology (ACT) Cyber Knights at 4pm.

In the final game set at 6 pm, ThreeSixty Pharmacy-Online will go up against Ave Maria Sanctuary Park.

ThreeSixty Pharmacy of coach Mark Tallo is the team to watch out in the two-week tilt as it tap the services of former CESAFI Juniors MVP and Talk ‘N Text Liga ng Bayan MVP Mark Jayven Tallo along with teammates from De La Salle Green Archers in Jarelan Tampus and Mark Kong.

Also beefing their lineup are ex-PBA big man Ken Bono and Dino Daa.

Ave Maria, on the other hand, will parade their veteran wards in Jercules Tangkay, Danny Aying, Alex Cainglet and Jerry Cavan.

The tournament follows a single round robin format, with the top two enjoying a twice-to-beat advantage into the crossover semifinals. The winners will then clash for the championship in a best-of-three series, while the losers will fight for third in knockout match.

The champion will receive P100,000, while the second to third will pocket P50,000, P30,000 and P20,000, respectively.

Tickets are priced at P30 for the upperbox, P50 for the lowerbox and P100 for ringside. (FREEMAN)
