USPF Alumni run set this February

CEBU, Philippines - The University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Alumni and Friends Fun Run 2012 is set on February 11 with the start/finish line to be set up at the school’s football field in Lahug, this city.

Organizers are confident of the event’s success especially with the support extended by Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama.

Rama, an alumnus of USPF also promised to run in the event.

"I will join the event. I will never forget my roots, USP will always be here in my heart," said Rama in yesterday’s press conference at USPF’s Rizal Hall.

The event is fund-raising activity for the benefit of the less-fortunate students of the school although cash prizes will still be given to the top finishers.

"The purpose of the run is to augment our USPF alumni funds for the scholars of the school," said USPF Alumni president James R. Yu.

"We want to provide quality education for poor students as well as give financial help to our brothers and sisters," added Yu.

The event features distances of 3, 6 and 12 kilometers.

Registration fee is pegged at P250 for students and P300 for non-students. Registration centers are at USPF Lahug campus and USPF Mabini campus. – (FREEMAN)
