CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Executives and Professional Chess Association (CEPCA) will spearhead the 2012 Sinulog Open Chess Team Tournament on January 7 at SM City-Cebu.
The event is open to all schools, clubs, companies, cities and other interested groups.
Each team shall be composed of four players and an alternate.
To ensure a balanced competition, the organizers are allowing each team only one titled player or two highly-ranked players.
The two-day tilt, supported by the city government of Cebu under the leadership of Mayor Michael Rama, will follow a seven-round Swiss System format.
Close to P76,000 in cash prizes are at stake for the winners.
CEPCA president Jojo Muralla will serve as tournament director, with Marvin Ruelan as the chief arbiter. The committee members include Jun Olis, Nic-nic Climaco, Boy Pestaño, Dante Arguelles, Ely Bercilles and Jun Kidlat.

Entry fee is pegged at P1, 200 per team for early birds and P1,500 for on-site registrants.
