CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Volley-ball Association (CEVA) hopes to bring the sport to another level by holding a commercial league next year.
Aside from the Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball (GUV) Cup that usually starts in the fourth quarter of the year, the said V-league will be done earlier though the CEVA officials still have to sit down and discuss the matter.
CEVA co-chairman Glenn Anthony Soco said the league will cater to players who are no longer playing with the different universities. They will make it an open tournament that will be supported by different stake- holders.
“This league will surely bring the sport to the next level. With this, there will be a transition for our players from the elementary down to the college level and then to this, like that in commercial basketball games,” said Soco.
CEVA, on the other hand, will also spearhead the establishment of a Volleyball Academy in the province with hopes of upgrading the skills of volleyball players in the Vis-Min region. (FREEMAN)
