CEBU, Philippines - Team Giuseppe succeeded in its goal of posting back-to-back wins in two divisions during yesterday's resumption of the 14th Aboitiz Football Cup at the Aboitiz Sports field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
After beating Bright Academy Team A last week, Giuseppe silenced the former’s team B, 7-0, in the players 6 category.
Giuseppe, thus, joined Don Bosco Technology Center on top of the leaderboard with similar 2-0 win-loss cards.
DBTC coasted to its second straight victory at the expense of CPMS, 1-0.
In the boys 12 class, Giuseppe took the solo lead in bracket A after crushing MABES, 7-0.
In bracket B, Bright Academy and Springdale shared the lead with clean 2-0 slates.
Bright Academy hammered out a 13-0 whitewash of SAIS, while Springdale dumped CIC-Mandaue, 8-0. SFC won by default over CEC.
In the other players 6 matches, Bright Academy-A bounced back with a 3-0 win against MABES, Canduman eked out a 1-0 triumph over BMALV, while San Roque Football Club fought to a scoreless draw with SHS-AdC.
In the players 8, Canduman Deadon scored a 3-0 shutout of CPMS, while DBTC-2 beat its sister-team, 7-0.
In the players 10, Springdale figured in a 1-all draw with DBTC-5,1-1, DBTC-2 bowed to CIE-2, 2-0, MABES overpowered BMALV, 6-1, while SHS-AdC grabbing a lopsided 9-0 win against DBTC-2.
The lone boys 14 duel saw Springdale coming up with an 11-0 rout of SAIS, while SHS-AdC posted a convincing 5-0 win over St. Theresa’s College in the women's division. (FREEMAN)
