SWU's Gendrauli, Pido reach finals in Unigames beach volley

CEBU, Philippines - Danika Yolanda Gendrauli and Princess Anne Pido of Southwestern University (SWU) overpowered Salamato Yushawu and Hannah Olina of Foundation University (FU) in straight sets to barge into the final round of beach volley event in the 2011 University Games at the Roxas City plaza.

Gendrauli and Pido battered Yushawu and Olina in the first set, 21-6, and then finished off the hapless FU duo in the second frame, 21-9, to set up a championship showdown with the University of Sto. Tomas (UTS) today.

UST booked the other final ticket after ousting Adamson University.

“We really give our best in every game. We maintained our teamwork and that's the good thing. Isig tinabangay lang mi sa korte, ” said Gendrauli.

“We have a bright chance to win the championship but we will not be complacent. Instead, we will even improve our performance because this is the most important game for us being the defending champion," she added. (FREEMAN)
