PBA tickets nearly sold out

CEBU, Philippines - Tickets are selling like hotcakes for the upcoming PBA out-of-town match between the Petron Blaze Boosters and the Alaska Aces scheduled on November 5 at the multi-million Hoops Dome in Brgy. Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City.

"Overall, 75 percent of the tickets have been sold out already," said Councilor Harry Radaza in a press conference yesterday at Sports Exchange Bar and Grill. "I urged our fans and spectators to come out and buy your tickets as soon as possible."

This marks for the first time that Lapu-Lapu is hosting a bearing PBA provincial game.

Radaza, the chief architect in bringing bigtime sporting events in Mactan Island such as the Davis Cup tie and three world-class boxing promotions so far, advised the public to purchase their tickets to authorized outlets only so they wouldn't be victimized by unscrupulous individuals.

"Regarding counterfeits, we are very pro-active in driving away scalpers," said Radaza, the city council's committee chairman on tourism, sports and international relations.

Available at Chris Sports in Ayala and SM City-Cebu, Lapu-Lapu City Hall and Santa Rosa Brgy. Hall, tickets are priced at P100 for general admission, P300 for upper box, P500 for lower box, and P800 for ringside.

Meanwhile, the Alaska Aces of coach Joel Banal are set to arrive in Cebu on November 3. They will pay a courtesy call on Mayor Paz Radaza before facing the media in a news conference at 2:30 pm at The Old Spaghetti House in SM City-Cebu.

The following day, the Petron Boosters are due in the Queen City of the South with practically the same itinerary as Alaska.

At 4 pm on November 4, selected players from Petron and Alaska will have a "Meet and Greet" session with at least 70 differently-abled children from Lapu-Lapu as part of their community outreach project. (FREEMAN)
