New SHAABAA prexy looks forward to 2012

- GGM -

CEBU, Philippines - Incoming Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) president Marcelino Co yesterday said he is looking forward to a bigger and stronger tournament next year.

He said he is expecting more teams next year because more Sacred Heart alumni are graduating and aside from holding a basketball tournament, they are also trying to hold football and badminton events to those who don’t play basketball.

Co takes over the reins of the organization from Regan King, who served as president for two years.

In his message, King thanked the group for their success as his stint as head of the organization had been marked with several milestones.

The awarding of the 16th SHAABAA Landmasters Cup led by new champion Dyna Power/Dynacast was held yesterday at the Baseline Restaurant during the SCOOP weekly sports forum hosted by Bobby Inoferio.

There maybe a new champion but it was still Dave Lim of second placer Kia Motors/White Gold who was voted the MVP adding to his trophy collection.

Lim said it was his seventh MVP award.

King's team, RDAK Transport/Edcon placed third and Istorya.net settled for fourth place.

A plaque of appreciation was also awarded to the Cebu Landmasters.

Lim, Kent Ong, Dennis Que, Ed Macasling and Robert Gilo were named into the Mythical Five.

Special awards were given to Que as best point guard, Dave Michael Ting as best offguard, Kent Ong as best power forward, Gilo as best center and Lim as the highest scorer.

Other awards given were board and block busters to Giovanie Borreo, James Edquilla and Peter Anthony Tuano.    The defensive enforcers were Joseph Rudolph Lo and Theogene Lim.
