Cebu to host final leg of Run United series
CEBU, Philippines - Over 5,000 fitness buffs are expected to take part in the final leg of the 2011 Run United regional series, which will be hosted by the Queen City of the South on December 18 at the Asiatown IT Park in Brgy. Apas, this city.
This Unilab-organized race had its kick-off leg last August 14 in Davao followed by Iloilo, Bacolod, Manila, Cagayan de Oro and Baguio City.
“Unilab is dedicated in promoting health that’s why we decided to organize sports that can help promote a healthy lifestyle. We also aim to encourage Filipino families to engage into active and healthy lifestyle,” said Unilab Sports Events executive Lester Castillo in a press conference yesterday at the Cebu Grand Convention Center.
Aside from running, Unilab also ventures into cycling and triathlon since they want to focus on endurance sports.
“With our aim to gather more participants in promoting health awareness, we also plan to organize cycling and triathlon here in Cebu aside from running,” said Castillo.
Runrio Inc. president Rio Dela Cruz, on the other hand, assured that they will take care of the safety of all the participants.
The race features five categories including the 500m dash, 3K, 5K, 10K and 21K.
The top three finishers in the 21K will receive P5,000, P3,500 and P1,500, respectively plus a finisher's shirt and specially-designed medals. Corresponding cash prizes will also be given to the top three winners in the other categories.
