11th Badminton Friendship tourney set

CEBU, Philippines - Over 100 badminton enthusiasts from top companies all over Cebu will vie for the top spot in the 11th Badminton Friendship games to be held on October 22 at Metrosports in Brgy. Lahug, this city.

The quarterly tournament has since been organized as an activity gathering for badminton enthusiasts from companies like PLDT, VECO, Aboitiz, USC, Coke, San Miguel, Pepsi, CIT, MCIA, 2GO and Sunstar among others, which aim to promote unity and camaraderie from the participating groups.

“This time we’ll be celebrating our 11th season for this tournament. The support from these companies has grown remarkably stronger and we’ve developed strong relationships from these past seasons,” said Court 11 Badminton Club Vice President and PLDT Cebu Customer Service Zone Head Bong Lintag.

The friendship games were initially founded to establish connections from companies with employees who are fond of the sport. Through the years, the friendship games have seen a growth in participation among companies in Cebu.

“The tournaments aren’t so much focused on competition but rather to give employees the time to relax and get to know people from other companies to network and develop friendships along the way,” added Lintag.

Aside from the grand prizes for the winning teams, several raffle prizes like umbrellas, t-shirts, bags, are also up for grabs. (PR)
