- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - Two running events will take place on the 22nd of this month with the staging of the Pueblo Verde Pink Run in Lapu-Lapu City and the N’Dash Run at the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.

Runners, however, need not be confused as to which race to join as both events have different schedules.

The Pink Run will be held at 4 pm from Pueblo Verde in Basak, Lapu-Lapu passing inside the Buenito Ebuen Airbase, as disclosed by the organizers in a press conference yesterday at Savoura located at Pueblo Verde.

For the Lapu-Lapu race, entry fee is pegged at P250 for the 3K and 5K and P350 for the 10K inclusive of a singlet, race bib, raffle entry and refreshments.

The top performers will get cash prizes and medals.

The biggest delegation will also receive a cash incentive of P5,000.

Entry forms are available at Runnr in Ayala Center Cebu, MEZ II administration office in Basak, MEZ building at Pueblo Verde MEZ II and at Persimmon Plus in Mabolo, this city.

Although there has already been another breast cancer-related running event that took place last Sunday, organizers are still expecting 700 to a 1,000 runners to see action.

The organizers are hoping to disseminate information on breast cancer to as many individuals possible at the same time raise funds for the benefit of the Icanserve Foundation.

“Early detection saves lives, time and money. Don’t wait that it gets worse. Don’t be afraid, we are one with you in the fight. If I can do it, you can do it,” said Icanserve Foundation-Cebu coordinator Mary Ann Alcordo-Solomon, herself a cancer survivor.

This is the first time that a footrace will pass through the Airbase, something to look forward to by the participants.

“Runners will be enjoying a well-paved road, fresh air, trees and hospitality inside the Airbase. More to it, we support this event as part of our cause for poverty reduction and nation-building,” said Gen. Raul Gabriel Dimatatac.

Before the Pink Run in Lapu-Lapu comes the Philippine Nurses Association, Incorporated’s Nurses Driving Access for Society’s Health ( N’Dash) Run early in the morning on October 22.

It is the kick-off activity for PNA’s 89th founding anniversary and annual National Convention. Proceeds will go to the Red Cross.

With hopes of attracting more entries, registration fee is pegged at P250 only for the 3K, 6K and 12K. Those who don’t want to get singlets will have a discount of P100.

Registration is now going on at Runnr, ROX, Cebu City Sports Center, Philippine Red Cross and at the PNA Regional Office at Fuente Osmeña circle.

Cash prizes will be given away to the top five finishers in each class. (FREEMAN)
