CEBU, Philippines - The employees and staff of Cebu Parklane International Hotel basked in the glow of their best finish ever in the annual Hotel Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu (HRRAC) Sportsfest.
The three-week event that started last August 29 was participated in by 23 teams from different hotel and restaurant chains in Cebu that are HRRAC members.
Bowling is played at Gaisano Bowlingplex, athletics at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu track oval, basketball at the Capitol Parish Gym, badminton at Racquet Zone of Montebello Villa Hotel, beach volleyball at White Sands Resort and tennis at Plantation Bay Resort and Spa.
After dwelling at the bottom of the standings in the past editions of the annual event, Cebu Parklane Hotel made a huge run this year as it sky-rocketed to second place in the overall standingg behind perennial champion Shangri-la Hotel. Imperial Hotel and Radisson Blu Hotel placed at joint third.
Shangri-la garnered 34 points followed by Parklane with 19 points. Imperial and Radisson Blu Hotel finished with identical 16 points.
“Winning this event will show that we are here standing stronger despite of the hard times we are experiencing,” said Esty Liezl Marie V. Patiño, marketing communication assistant of Parklane.
Patiño added that the second place finish means so much for them as this will be an inspiration for all of their employees to strive hard and cooperate for the good of their Hotel.
“This means so much for us and hopefully in the next sportsfest, we will be able to continue what we have started and maybe win the championship,” she said. - (THE FREEMAN)
