Tabal rules Osmeña footrace

CEBU, Philippines - Mary Joy Tabal topped the women's15K division of the 2011 Don Sergio Osmeña, Sr. Memorial Run at Plaza Independencia yesterday.

Tabal won the battle with a personal best time of 58 minutes and 17.83 seconds. Mary Grace de los Santos came in second with the time of 59:48.40 followed by Jhane Mansueto in 1:5:17.70.

Kenyan Stanley Ting lorded it over in the men's side with the time of 50:00.81, while Mendel Lopez wound up second in 50:13.27. Another Kenyan in Abraham Missos landed third with 50:16.97.

Cebu’s former top runners also had a great time in the Cebu City Sports Commission-organized event as they were given a fair playing field to be on top through the masters class.

Elbert Banzon claimed the masters A title with a 1:01:04.12 clocking. Alex Loloy ruled in the masters B and Paulino Obra came out the fastest in the masters C.

In the 7K category, Jordan Bacong took the top spot in 23 minutes and 18.11 seconds followed by Joel Delposo in 23:21.17 and Jess Gonzaga in 23:22.90.

In the distaff side, Christy Sevilleno-Tutor reigned supreme in 28:18.09 followed by Lovely Fe Andrin in 28:30.78 and Jolie Rose Maxilom in 29:09.78. –(FREEMAN)
