CEBU, Philippines - The tandem of Alex Yeo and Glenn Sebastian led the winners of the August Monthly Medal of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club, which was played last Sunday.
Yeo fired three-over-par 51 points while Sebastian shot four-over-par 50 points in the Molave system for a total of 101. They won the title for the premiere Group I.
First runner-up was the tandem of Wendell Yap (51) and Kim Kwang Seok (47) with a total of 98 points. Second runner-up honors went to the team of Enrico Solon (49) and Cho Kyu Jeong (43) for a total of 91.
Solon and Cho won the award after edging the pair of Jufil Sato and Nolan Rada in the countback.
The Group II title went to the team of Jun Dayot and Marvin Mendoza, who fired identical 47 points each for a total of 94.
First runner-up honors went to Vic Gocela (51) and Nestor Mendoza (41) with 92 points while second runner-up was the tandem of Loloy Sabuga (46) and Ed Acain (45) with 91 points.
The Group III crown went to Tessa Ozoa (34) and Mark Warren Go (44) with 78 points.
First runner-up was the team of Philip Huang (38) and Andrew Si (34) with 72 points. Second runner-up was the pair of Pete del Rosario (29) and Ed Sy (39) with 68 beating Vince Cañizares and Jun Tolentino in the countback.
Rolando Alberto scored 45 points while partner Razi Razon shot 48 for a total of 93 points to win the seniors’ division crown.
Club treasurer Ramon Sebastian fired one-over-par 53 points while club chairman Oly Dychangco added 31 for a total of 84 points that earned them the first runner-up honors.
Second runner-up was the team of Jonathan Yu (41) and Jun Caoili (24) with 65 points.
The champion of the guest division, which used the Blind Callaway handicapping, was Akira Hatano with a net score of 72 edging runner-up Diego Tio, who had the same score, in the countback.
Special awards went to Vic Gocela for nearest to the pin on hole number 6 and Justice Pampio Abarintos for most accurate drive on hole number 11. (FREEMAN)
