CEBU, Philippines - Clifford Celdran topped the 1st Thailand Friendly Golf Tournament dubbed as “Believe in Thailand Meeting on the Green in Cebu” played at the par-72 Cebu Country Club yesterday.

Celdran, who is also the general manager of the host club, fired a tournament-best gross score of 79 strokes and established as System-36 handicap of 9 for a net 70. After going seven-over par on the front nine, Celdran shot back-to-back birdies on the 10th and 11th to finish the back nine at one-over-par.

The first runner-up honors went to Toby Florendo also with a net score of 70 strokes off a gross 80.  He established a System-36 handicap of 10.

Ties in this tournament format are broken by virtue of a lower established handicap.

Jovi Neri also finished with a net score of 70 but had a handicap of 11 to finish as second runner-up.

The tournament was organized by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau.

Puripan Bunnag, senior manager Marketing and Promotions of the Meeting and Incentives Department said that a similar event will be held in Manila tomorrow. – NLQ (THE FREEMAN)
