CEBU, Philippines - Kenyan Abraham Missos dominated another running event in Cebu as former road running queen Christy Sevilleno-Tutor ruled the distaff side of the 6th Cebu Doctor’s University Run at CDU at the Mandaue City Reclamation area yesterday.
Interestingly both Missos and Sevilleno-Tutor were also the same top runners in their respective class in another Run for Sight Foundation and ThreeSixty Pharmacy-spearheaded running event, the Kawasan Falls Marathon last month.
Missos, this time came out the fastest in the 21-kilometer distance, which passed through Cebu’s two popular bridges, the Mactan Bridge and the Marcelo Fernan Bridge.
Missos finished in an hour, 3 minutes and 1.19 seconds, more than minute ahead of Cebuano Adonis Singson who ended second with 1:15:21.34.
Singson, failed to get the title, but was happy enough not to be beaten by Sherwin Managuil in the final stretch. Managuil settled for third with 1:15:56.09.
In the distaff side, Sevilleno-Tutor felt like a queen again as she topped the battle with 1:38:57.86 over an upcoming runner Alyssa Lagahit who timed 1:42:13.11 as Merlita Arias-Dunkin came out third in her 1:42:13.11 clocking.
Former RP weightlifter Emily Rosas, on the other hand, reigned supreme in the women’s 13-km action with 1:05:30.81 as against Cobra Ironman Philippines age-group champion Rochelle Tan who clocked 1:13:36.93.
Little-known Brende Codera got the men’s 13-km title over University Run regular runner, Charlie Berberio with 48:39.03 as against the latter’s 49:44.99 clocking.
CDU students also had a good time as they showcased their wares in the shorter distances also featured in this annual event.
Dale Bercede and Issa Perez topped their respective division in the 6-km run while Mary Adrianne Toledo and Jen Jee Jin frontline the 3-km action. – THE FREEMAN
