Warriors pummel Wildcats in CESAFI

- Gabby G. Malagar -

CEBU, Philippines - Fresh from a close yet morale-boosting victory over the much-ballyhooed Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras, the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors poured in all their strength against the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats to come up with a 86-66 rout in the 11th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) season last Sunday at the Cebu Coliseum.

Earlier, the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USPF) Panthers hacked out an impressive 73-63 win over the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars, extending the latter's agony to three straight setbacks.

In the secondary matches, the University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers fashioned out a 95-53 drubbing of the USPF Baby Panthers for their second straight victory, while the USJ-R Baby Jaguars escaped with a 77-75 win over the University of Cebu (UC) Junior Webmasters.

The Warriors, who scored an upset over the Cobras last Saturday, 65-63, now moved into solo second place with a 2-1 win-loss record.

The fluidity of the Warriors offense was too awesome that they even drew the ire of Wildcats' Floyd Taboada, whose physical game did not contribute any good to his team. His fighting mood resulted into his ejection at the final 2:47 mark of the contest when he got his second technical.

Except for Mel Steven Duran and Nicolas Kyle Magat, all other 13 Warriors scored led by Miko Santos with 12 points.

Allan Dimco, the most prolific scorer for the Wildcats, topscored with 25 points while Franklyn Batiquin added 17 markers.

Meanwhile, Fritz Dajalos and Anthony Linao finished with 15 and 13 points, respectively, for the Panthers. (FREEMAN)
