Uni-Tec seizes solo lead in UABC cagefest

CEBU, Philippines - Uni-Tec overcame a fourth-quarter meltdown to outlast Boysen Paints, 65-51, in a clash of unbeaten teams in the United Architects Basketball Club (UABC) Season 5 "2nd Corporate Cup" at the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) gym.

Uni-Tec, thus, grabbed the solo lead with an immaculate 4-0 record, while dropping Boysen Paints to second place in a tie with Durabend with identical 3-1 win-loss cards. Durabend charted its third win at the expense of Multi-Line, 84-78.

After closing the third period with a 48-38 lead, the Uni-Tec mainstays toned down in offense but were smart enough in foiling the comeback attempt by Boysen Paints.

Durabend, on the other hand, was never threatened after posting a 13-point advantage, 29-16, after the first 10 minutes of play.

Multi-Line kept on chasing Durabend on the offensive end but could only pull within six points at the final buzzer.

In the other game, Megabond whipped up a furious assault in the final half to thrash Davies Paints by 15 points, 68-53. They kept Multi-Line at bay since jumping off to a sizzling 22-12 start.
