CEBU, Philippines - Four members of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu karting team along with some of the tried and tested Cebuano karters will show their stuff in the second round of the 2011 Asian Karting Open Championship (AKOC) in Carmona, Cavite.
Frontlining the cast of Ateneo racers are 2010 Karter of the Year Jette Calderon and 2010 Rookie of the Year Joseph Rojo. They will be joined by Sean Velasco and Vince Adrian Rojo, the younger brother of Joseph.
Although it's not the first time for Calderon and his teammates to join the AKOC, they are doubly ecstatic for today’s final battle as it marks their first campaign as a team under the wings of SHS-Ateneo de Cebu.
Calderon will be competing in the ROK category, Joseph in the KT expert, Velasco in the KT novice and Vince Adrian in the mini-ROK.
Peterson Lim and the Carcel siblings –Tonyo and Kali – will also be joining the action.
Lim, who is among the top contenders in the KT masters division in the Kartzone Karting Series here, will strut his wares in the SQ category.
Tonyo and Kali are also expected to add strength to the Cebuano.

It became an instant hit and has now evolved as the most challenging karting series in Asia participated in by not less than 80 players each year including from the Macau, Thailand, Indonesia, India, China, Hongkong, Brunei and Singapore. - (THE FREEMAN)
