The Y101 Armscor Run, which is taking place next Sunday, has caught the fancy of many.
First, it offers a distance for those who are not fit enough to make the minimum three-kilometer distance of other races — the 1.01-K run.
Second, the race offers not only cash prizes to the winners but also items in kind including electronic products.
Then, there is the military obstacle course that is an added feature at the end of the 10.1-K run for those that will be signing up from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police.
Also, the race offers guns as prizes, which doesn’t make it a ‘gun running’ event. By the way, gun running can’t land you in jail, but joining the Y101 Armscor Run can qualify you to win wonderful prizes.

If the 10.1-K and the 1.01-K are either too long or too short for you, there is also the 5.01-K event.
The reason for the additional meters is of course obvious, this is for the station that is on 101.1 MHz on your FM dial.
Registration centers are the station, the Cebu City Sports Center, and Runnr at Ayala Center Cebu.
Entry fee is P300 for all distances.

While going through the CNNSI.com, I came across an item on the dumbest sports quotes.
For the fun of it, I’ll share some of them with you:
“We’re not attempting to circumcise the rules.” – former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher
“I owe a lot to my parents especially my father and my mother.” – PGA Tour golfer Greg ‘Shark’ Norman
“Chemistry is a class you take in high school or college where you figure out two plus two is 10, or something.” – former NBA star Dennis Rodman
“Anytime Detroit scores more than 100 points and holds the other team below 100 points, they almost always win.” – NBA coach Doug Collins
“We’re going to turn this team 360 degrees.” – NBA star Jason Kidd when he was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks

Athletes and coaches also often offer another form of entertainment to the fans.
Some become comedians with quotes like the ones above or action stars when they start hitting each other or people at the stadium during games.
This reminds me of a former photographer, who covered basketball games. He was asked for his pictures of the brawl during a collegiate match.
He answered in the dialect, “I didn’t take any, it was helter-skelter there.”
