Y101 FM sets running event with a twist
CEBU, Philippines - A running event on July 24 in Cebu is putting a new twist to the now popular activity - guns.
No, participants will not be armed, but there would be guns at stake for some of the winners of the race and raffles in the Y101 Armscor Run, which will start and finish at the Asiatown IT Park.
The event, which is organized by Runcheck features distances of 1.01-K, 5.01-K, and 10.1-K.
There is also a special event after the 10.1-K run featuring a military obstacle course.
Winners of the various categories will be receiving cash and other items.
Registration fee for all race categories is pegged at P300, which entitles the first 1,000 registrants to a singlet, Armscor bullet keychains, and other giveaways.
Interested runners can sign up at Runnr in Ayala Center Cebu, the Cebu City Sports Center, and at Y101 located at the second floor of Gaisano Countrymall.
Prizes at stake for the 1.0-K event are P1,500 and a Philips BluRay/DVD player system for the champion, P1,500 and a Myphone cellphone for the second placer, and P500 and a 2GB Philips GoGear for the third placer.
These are for both the men's and women's divisions.
For the 5.01-K, the first placers for the men's and women's classes will get P3,000 and a Philips HD pocket video camera. The second placers will get P2,000 and a Myphone cellphone while the third placers will be getting P1,000 and a 2GB Philips GoGear MP3 player.

For the 10.1-K event, the first placer for the men's and the women's class will get P3,000 and a trip to Boracay for two including a 3 days/2 nights stay courtesy of Midsea Express and Crown Regency Beach Resort.
The second placers will get P2,000 and a Myphone touchscreen cellphone while the third placers will get P1,000 and a Philips GoGear Vibe MP3 and video player.
For the military event, which is 10.1-K then finishing with an obstacle course, the champion of the men's division gets P3,000 and an Armscor classic 9 mm pistol.
The winner of the distaff side gets P3,000 and a .22 caliber Tanfoglio pistol.
The second placers for the men's and women's classes will get P2,000 and a modified Italian made airsoft rifle while the third placer gets P1,000 and an Armscor air rifle.
The fastest in the 10.1-K event will be receiving a brandnew Zongshen 110cc motorcycle.
Another motorcycle is also at stake in the raffles aside from an Armscor caliber .45 1911A1 classic pistol.
Also at stake will be Philips Audio DVD component systems, Armscor merchandise, Philips electronic products, and Y101 novelty items.
Winners are required to be at the venue to win.
